Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, March 2025 – Jo Farrugia has been named Chief People & Culture Officer at Nexus Hospitals. In this role, she will lead Nexus Hospitals’ people and culture strategy, fostering an innovative and high-performing workforce across the organization’s expanding network of short-stay hospitals.
Prior to joining Nexus Hospitals, Jo Farrugia served as National Director of People Partnerships at St Vincent’s Health Australia, where she was instrumental in transforming the People & Culture operating model across the organization’s 30,000-strong workforce.
Before that, she was Executive General Manager, People & Culture at St Vincent’s Virtual & Home Health, where she played a pivotal role in establishing HR structures and workforce strategies for this rapidly scaling national healthcare venture.
Previously, Jo spent over three years at Melbourne Water, where she served as Head of Organisation Capability & Employee Experience. In this role, she led leadership development, talent management, culture transformation, and employee engagement initiatives for the organization.
Earlier in her career, Jo held key leadership positions at Australian Unity, where she served as GM People & Culture and later as Head of HR, overseeing human capital strategies for health insurance, banking, and digital transformation divisions. She also gained significant expertise in organizational development and transformation through roles at Austin Health and ANZ, where she led capability-building, cultural transformation, and HR operations across diverse business units.
