Merck, a prominent science and technology company, has officially announced the appointment of Dhananjay Singh as the new Managing Director of its Life Science division in India, effective April 1, 2024. This strategic move was detailed in a press statement released by the company on Tuesday. Singh, who also holds the position of Head of Science and Lab Solutions Commercial in India, will succeed Sreenath NS. Sreenath is set to retire after a distinguished 36-year tenure with Merck in India.
Pratima Reddy, Country Speaker for Merck India, expressed her confidence in Singh’s abilities, citing his impressive 26-year career with Merck and his pivotal role in developing the Science and Lab Solutions Commercial business in India. “Dhananjay Singh’s dedication to advancing scientific progress and fostering strong partnerships with customers has been instrumental in driving Merck Life Science’s growth and reinforcing its position in the Indian market,” Reddy stated.
In his new role, Singh is tasked with overseeing the implementation of Merck’s Life Science strategy across India. His responsibilities will include ensuring compliance and governance in alignment with Merck’s business objectives in the country. Reflecting on his new position, Singh expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and expanding Merck’s impact on India’s life sciences industry. He emphasized the importance of supporting governmental initiatives such as “Make in India” and strengthening partnerships to propel forward.
Singh’s journey with Merck began in 1997 at Sigma-Aldrich, where he ascended through various leadership roles within the Commercial Organisation before assuming his recent position in 2022. His extensive experience spans across strategic sales leadership and operational management, significantly contributing to Merck’s success in various regions of India.
