Greater London, England, United Kingdom, December 2025 – Jo Tanner has started a new position as Chief Executive at CoSRH – College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, taking on the responsibility of leading one of the United Kingdom’s most influential professional bodies in sexual and reproductive health. In this new role, she is expected to drive strategic direction, strengthen stakeholder confidence, and enhance the organisation’s impact across the healthcare ecosystem.
Before joining CoSRH, Jo Tanner spent nearly six years with The Royal College of Midwives (RCM), where she progressed from Associate Director of Communications to Director of Communications & Engagement. Over approximately five years in these roles, she led strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, campaigns, social influence initiatives, and internal and external engagement during a pivotal period for the organisation.
Earlier, Jo built significant influence in the social sector through governance and advisory roles. She served as Trustee at 999 Club for around seven years and as a Member at Exceptional Education Trust for nearly eight years. She also held the position of Chair of Governors at Meridian High School, taking on critical responsibilities during a period of educational and organisational turnaround. These experiences helped shape her expertise in leadership, governance, and community engagement.
Prior to these roles, Jo held leadership positions across multiple organisations, including Director at West Wing Communications, Director of Communications at Pause – Creating Space for Change, and Vice Chair at Apollo Learning Trust (formerly Ravens Wood Learning Trust). Her contributions expanded across sectors such as health, education, community development, and social policy, demonstrating her ability to provide strategic influence, run campaigns, and manage multi-stakeholder environments.
Jo’s earlier career includes a wide range of senior communication and public affairs roles at British Medical Association, British Future, Alzheimer’s Research UK, General Medical Council, Water UK, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Campaign for Directly-Elected Mayors, Contact a Family, FTA, Coalition for Medical Progress, and British Dental Association. She also built foundational experience as Press Secretary for the Andy Burnham Labour Leadership Campaign, Editor at Progress, Chief Sub Editor at Surveyor, Press & Parliamentary Officer for Richard Corbett MEP, and began her professional career at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance as a Legal Assistant. Over this extensive journey across nearly three decades, Jo has developed deep capability in leadership, governance, communications strategy, public affairs, crisis management, campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and strategic influence.
