Radnor, Pennsylvania, United States | July 2026 — Nouryon has appointed Joe Lupia, Ph.D. as Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the company’s Leadership Team. In his new role, he will lead Nouryon’s global technology and innovation agenda, advancing research and development, product innovation, and sustainability-driven growth initiatives to support the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
Joe joins Nouryon from Elementis Global, where he served as Senior Vice President, Technology & Product Stewardship. During his seven-year tenure, he led the company’s global technology organization, driving innovation, product stewardship, research and development, and technology strategies that supported business growth across specialty chemicals markets.
Prior to Elementis, Joe spent more than 16 years with BASF, holding several senior technology leadership positions. As Director, Technical Innovations & Customer Support, he led technical innovation and customer support organizations, overseeing research teams focused on advancing specialty chemical technologies and strengthening customer-centric innovation. Earlier, he served as Senior Research Manager and Senior Group Leader, contributing to BASF’s global research, product development, and technology capabilities.
Earlier in his career, Joe spent over 14 years at Ciba, where he held leadership roles including Vice President, Research & Development and Vice President, Home & Personal Care Research & Development. During this period, he led global R&D organizations, accelerated product innovation, and developed technologies serving multiple consumer and industrial markets.
Joe holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Chemistry from Seton Hall University, providing a strong scientific foundation for his distinguished career in specialty chemicals research, innovation, and technology leadership.
With more than three decades of experience spanning research and development, technology leadership, innovation management, product stewardship, sustainability, and global scientific organizations, Joe brings deep expertise that will help strengthen Nouryon’s innovation capabilities and support its continued global growth.
