Boulder, Colorado, United States, February 2026 – John Slaven has joined MineSense Technologies Ltd. as Chief Executive Officer, stepping into the role at a time of significant transformation across the global mining sector. With critical minerals playing an increasingly strategic role in the global economy, Slaven’s appointment signals a strong push to accelerate innovation and operational excellence.
Prior to joining MineSense, John served as Chief Executive Officer at Jetti Resources and earlier as Chief Executive Officer of the Aluminium Business at Vedanta Limited, where he led one of the world’s largest aluminum operations. Vedanta Aluminium is among the largest producers globally, with multi-million-tonne smelting and refining capacity, extensive power assets, and an ambitious capital expansion program spanning refining, mining, and value-added production.
Earlier, John held senior executive leadership roles at Alcoa, including Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing global bauxite, alumina, and aluminum operations across 10 countries. His career also includes leadership and strategy roles at The Boston Consulting Group and BHP Billiton, where he led large-scale strategy, exploration, and development initiatives across aluminum, iron ore, manganese, and nickel commodities. He began his professional journey at The De Beers Group and served as an officer in the South African Navy.
John holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
