Lusaka, Zambia, November 2025 — Kamuchizya Mutambo has been appointed as Head of People at WaterAid Zambia, where he will lead the organization’s human resources and people development strategy. In his new role, Kamuchizya will focus on driving employee engagement, talent management, and organizational culture aligned with WaterAid’s mission of ensuring access to clean water, decent sanitation, and hygiene for all.
Before joining WaterAid Zambia, Kamuchizya Mutambo served as Head of Human Resources at USAID for over seven years. In this leadership role, he oversaw strategic HR planning, workforce development, and inclusion initiatives that supported mission-critical programs across Zambia. During his tenure, he also contributed as a HR Policy Analyst in Washington, D.C., where he supported global HR policy reforms and cross-border talent frameworks.
In addition to his USAID experience, Kamuchizya has held several prominent governance and advisory roles. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and Independent Non-Executive Director at Copper Rose Zambia, where he has contributed to the organization’s governance, human capital development, and strategy over the past five years. He also serves on the People & Culture Board Committee at World Vision, bringing his expertise to support inclusive and ethical workforce practices within the nonprofit sector.
Kamuchizya is also a Managing Partner at Bessent Partners, where he advises organizations on leadership development, human resources transformation, and organizational strategy. In addition, he is a Board Trustee at Nkwazi Cooperative Savings and Credit Society Ltd, contributing to strategic decision-making and people governance.
Earlier in his career, Kamuchizya served as Human Resource Manager at Chemonics International, where he led HR operations for donor-funded projects in Zambia, and as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at TopFloor Zambia, where he managed executive recruitment and organizational development initiatives.
Kamuchizya Mutambo holds an MBA in Business Strategy from The University of Zambia, equipping him with a strong foundation in leadership, organizational management, and strategic HR planning.
