Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, September 2024 – Karen Cornwall has been appointed as the new Head of Human Resources at Lothian Pension Fund. In her role, she will oversee HR operations and strategic planning, contributing to the Fund’s continued growth and success.
Karen Cornwall brings a wealth of experience in Human Resources to her new role. She recently served as People Business Partner at Lothian Pension Fund for approximately 1 year and 4 months, where she was instrumental in developing HR strategies and initiatives. Prior to that, she worked as a Human Resources Consultant at Capricorn Energy PLC for nearly 2 years, focusing on HR solutions and consultancy.
Her career also includes a tenure as HR Business Partner at Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking – SGCIB for about 10 months, where she managed various HR functions on a contract basis. She held the position of Senior HR Business Partner – Trading at Total for approximately 4 years and 8 months, supporting HR operations across multiple global offices in a demanding trading environment.
Karen also served as an HR Business Partner at CMC Markets for 6 months, and as an HR Manager at RDS – Drilling Engineering Specialists for 1 year and 6 months. Additionally, she worked as a Senior HR Advisor at KCA Deutag for almost 2 years, and held various HR roles at Subsea 7, Aker Subsea Ltd, Grampian Police, and Weatherford early in her career.
Lothian Pension Fund manages the Local Government Pension Scheme in Edinburgh and the Lothians, overseeing £7 billion in assets as of June 2018. The Fund serves 84,000 members and 90 employers, with a strong focus on in-house investment management. It has been recognized for its excellence in customer service and pension administration, holding the Customer Service Excellence Award for the past decade.
