Baltimore, Maryland, United States, March 2025 – Kate Skidmore has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Baltimore Orioles. With a strong background in human resources strategy, talent management, and diversity and inclusion, she will lead HR functions, shaping policies that foster an inclusive and high-performance culture within the organization.
Kate Skidmore joins the Baltimore Orioles from Capital One, where she spent over six years in various HR leadership roles. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Card HR, overseeing HR strategies for the company’s card division. Prior to that, she was Human Resources Business Partner for Customer Services and Strategy, ensuring alignment between HR initiatives and Capital One’s broader strategic objectives. Additionally, as Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) – Technology, she led diversity efforts for Capital One’s 10,000+ employees in the technology division.
Before Capital One, Skidmore worked at the National Basketball Association (NBA) for four years, where she held senior HR leadership roles. As Head of Team HR Support – Vice President, she provided HR consulting and best practices to NBA teams, while in her role as Vice President, Player Development, she designed and implemented talent development programs for NBA players, including the Crossover into Business Program in partnership with Harvard Business School.
Earlier in her career, Skidmore was the Head of Human Resources at the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) for over three years, where she developed HR operational plans, led professional development initiatives, and worked closely with players transitioning to post-career opportunities. Additionally, she spent four years as Head of Human Resources at Tate & Tryon, a Washington, D.C.-based firm, where she developed HR policies, training programs, and retention strategies.
Her career also includes HR and leadership roles at Bonney Staffing, Cultural Care Au Pair, and Employbridge, where she gained extensive experience in HR strategy, recruitment, and workforce planning.
