Audubon, Iowa, United States – October 2024 – Katie Johnson has taken on a new role as Vice President of People & Culture at ARU. In this role, Katie will oversee the full scope of HR functions, focusing on talent management, employee engagement, and organizational development. Her goal is to support the growth of ARU, a leader in specialty property insurance, and ensure a positive, dynamic work culture across the organization.
Katie joins ARU from The Mutual Group, where she served as the Director of Strategic HR Partnerships for nearly 2 years. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in HR transition efforts, leading talent acquisition, compliance, and strategic HR partnerships for both GuideOne and The Mutual Group. Her contributions were instrumental in establishing HR operations for this newly formed entity.
Prior to that, Katie worked as the Human Resources Director at GuideOne Insurance for nearly 4 years. In this role, she was responsible for driving HR initiatives related to workforce planning, strategic HR partnerships, and employee engagement. Her focus on talent strategy and HR project management was essential in creating an inclusive and high-performing work environment.
Katie brings over 12 years of experience from Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, where she held the position of Senior Human Resource Manager. She supported HR initiatives across the Midwest and Western regions, covering HR compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, and onboarding. She was instrumental in shaping HR policies and fostering a culture of excellence.
Earlier in her career, Katie was an Executive Team Leader at Target for about 4 years, managing staff and operations across multiple departments, including HR. She played a vital role in training new executives and driving employee engagement.
Katie’s initial career years were spent at Southwestern Advantage, where she worked as a Salesperson. Her hands-on experience in sales and recruitment laid the foundation for her expertise in HR strategy and team leadership.
