Nairobi, Kenya, April 2025 – Kinyanjui Kombani has transitioned into a new role at Standard Chartered as Lead, Recognition under the Performance, Rewards & Benefits team. In this capacity, he will be responsible for advancing the Bank’s global recognition strategy, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of appreciation and performance excellence.
Prior to his new role, Kinyanjui Kombani served as Lead Practitioner – People Capability at Standard Chartered, where he specialized in Learning Technology and previously led Innovation & Insights initiatives. His work spanned global learning strategy, digital enablement, and thought leadership to elevate people capability.
Earlier, he was appointed Head, People Capability – Singapore & South East Asia, where he oversaw leadership and learning agendas across multiple markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia. His leadership was pivotal in shaping regional capability strategies and enhancing employee development.
Before this, he held the role of People Capability Lead – Consumer, Private & Business Banking, and earlier as Group Program Manager, where he was instrumental in building and deploying role-specific curricula across the bank’s global retail footprint. These positions enabled him to drive scalable learning programs across functions and geographies.
Kinyanjui’s journey at Standard Chartered began nearly two decades ago, during which he held numerous frontline and managerial roles such as Learning Facilitator, Acting Head of Learning – East Africa, Learning Manager, and several SME and personal banking leadership positions. His progression from Graduate Clerk to a strategic HR leadership role exemplifies his deep commitment and multifaceted expertise within the bank.
