Hyderabad, Telangana, India, March 2026 — NMDC Limited has appointed Krishna Kumar Thakur as Director (Personnel), strengthening the company’s leadership at a time when the Navratna PSU continues to scale its people-centric ecosystem and long-term organisational growth agenda. The appointment has been formalised through a Ministry of Steel order, with a five-year tenure on NMDC’s board.
An officer of the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS), Krishna Kumar Thakur brings over 25 years of experience across human resource management and administration in large public-sector and railway ecosystems. In his new role at NMDC Limited, he is expected to lead key personnel priorities spanning workforce strategy, industrial relations, policy framework, and organisational capability building.
Prior to this appointment, Krishna Kumar Thakur served as Director (HR) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). During his tenure, he was associated with policy reforms, organisational restructuring initiatives, and efforts to introduce uniform incentive schemes, contributing to enterprise-wide HR and people transformation priorities.
Before BHEL, he worked with Indian Railways as Chief Personnel Officer (Admin) in the Mumbai region, handling senior HR leadership responsibilities within one of the country’s most complex operating environments, with a strong focus on administration, stakeholder engagement, and workforce governance.
Earlier, he served as Chairman, Railway Recruitment Cell at Indian Railways, leading large-scale recruitment responsibilities and supporting system-level hiring and process execution for critical workforce requirements.
Across his foundational career in Indian Railways and the broader public sector ecosystem, Krishna Kumar Thakur has been credited with handling large workforce mandates including HR oversight for sizeable employee bases and leading major recruitment efforts, bringing deep institutional knowledge of industrial relations and policy formulation to the role. He also holds an Executive MBA in Human Resources Management / Personnel Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
