Mumbai, India, March 2025 — Sumit Dhingra has been appointed as the Country Director for Bestseller India, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in the fashion and lifestyle industry. His expertise spans general management, brand building, and retail expansion, making him a strategic leader in the sector.

Prior to joining Bestseller India, Dhingra played a pivotal role at Crocs, Inc., where he successfully led the business across India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, driving substantial growth and market expansion. His tenure at Arvind Fashions Limited further solidified his reputation as a brand growth specialist, overseeing renowned labels such as Arrow, Izod, Gant, and Aéropostale. He has also held leadership positions at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. and United Colors of Benetton India, where he played a key role in retail strategy and business development.

Speaking on the appointment, Anders Holch Povlsen, CEO of Bestseller, emphasized the growing importance of the Indian market in the company’s global strategy and expressed confidence in Dhingra’s ability to scale Bestseller’s brands. Dhingra, in turn, highlighted the exciting phase of growth for Bestseller India, noting significant opportunities to expand the company’s footprint, enhance customer experiences, and strengthen its market position.

With a strong background in brand strategy, omnichannel retail, and consumer engagement, Dhingra will lead Bestseller India’s next phase of growth, focusing on increasing the reach of brands such as JACK & JONES, VERO MODA, ONLY, SELECTED HOMME, JACK & JONES Junior, and VERO MODA GIRL. His leadership is expected to further reinforce Bestseller’s position in the Indian fashion retail market.

Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
