Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, June 2024 – Liz Smith has been appointed as the Head of People Operations at Version 1. With extensive experience in human resources and strategic leadership, Liz brings a strong background in HR service delivery and people management to her new role, aiming to drive impactful HR strategies and initiatives at Version 1.
Liz Smith joins Version 1 with a rich career in HR leadership across diverse industries. At Version 1, she will focus on leading the HR Service Delivery function, encompassing the employee lifecycle, compensation and benefits, global mobility, and compliance.
Prior to this, Liz served as the Group HR Shared Services Manager at Halfords for approximately 8 years and 3 months. In this role, she was responsible for creating, communicating, implementing, and embedding the Employee Relations & Transactional HR strategy across the group, managing a team of HR professionals, and delivering on all people-related projects.
Before Halfords, Liz was the Lead HRBP at Mitie for about 1 year and 3 months, where she ensured that the company’s people policies and strategy were implemented consistently across multiple sectors, covering over 40,000 colleagues.
Liz’s experience also includes serving as the ER Manager at Compass Group for nearly 5 years, where she managed the Employee Relations team, drafted and negotiated settlement agreements, and supported the defense of Employment Tribunal claims.
Earlier in her career, Liz held the position of HR Officer at Adams Childrenswear Limited for about 1 year and 8 months, and HR Advisor at Eagle Ottawa for approximately 1 year and 11 months, where she provided HR support in the manufacturing environment and managed recruitment and health & safety policies.
