FORNEBU, Norway, United States, February 2025 — Mainstream Renewable Power (“Mainstream”), the globally recognized wind and solar company majority-owned by Aker Horizons ASA, is delighted to announce Morten Henriksen as its new Group CEO. Henriksen, formerly CEO of Gassnova, brings a wealth of experience from senior roles across the energy sector, including positions at Arendals Fossekompani and Statkraft.
Kristian Røkke, Mainstream’s Chairman, expressed his confidence in Henriksen’s ability to drive the company forward, noting, “As we enter a new phase, Morten brings extensive experience and deep sector expertise to position Mainstream for growth.”
The leadership transition comes as Mainstream sharpens its strategic focus on key markets—South Africa, Australia, and the Philippines—and implements cost reduction strategies aligned with relocating its headquarters from Dublin to Oslo in the first half of 2025. This move is part of a broader strategy to trim the company’s cost base by about 65% by 2026, compared to 2023 levels.
Current CEO Mary Quaney will assist in the transition before moving to a Senior Advisor role later in the year, aiming to pursue other interests.
Henriksen shared his enthusiasm about his new role, stating, “Mainstream is well positioned for the opportunities ahead. I am very excited about implementing our vision to build a lean and focused renewable energy company, leading in our core markets and creating value through strong project execution, a lean cost base, and capital efficiency.”
