Atlanta, Georgia, United States, December 2025 – GLISI (Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement) has appointed Meca Mohammed as its new Chief People & Culture Officer. In this role, she leads the organization’s people strategy, talent development, and organizational culture efforts to support GLISI’s mission of transforming school leadership across Georgia. With a career spanning over 15 years at GLISI, Meca brings deep institutional knowledge and a proven track record of impact.
Prior to stepping into the Chief People & Culture Officer role, Meca Mohammed served for nearly nine years as Vice President, Operations & Talent, where she led the organization’s talent lifecycle, operations strategy and HR practices. She also played a pivotal role in shaping internal culture and supporting leadership development programming.
Before that, she spent four years as Director of Research & Evaluation, where she oversaw the design and execution of GLISI’s evaluation frameworks, impact assessments, and data-driven insights to measure the success of school leadership programs across districts.
Meca previously held multiple research and evaluation roles at GLISI, including Associate Director of Research and Evaluation, Program Evaluation Manager, and Evaluation Consultant, through which she built a foundation in performance metrics, learning outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.
Meca holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy from The University of Georgia, and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education and Teaching from Boston College, which together underscore her academic commitment to equity and leadership in education.
Founded in 2001, the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to building excellent and equitable schools by growing leadership capacity across Georgia. Incorporated as a standalone non-profit in 2012, GLISI works with 50 districts annually, serving over 1,500 educators, including teachers, principals, and district leaders.
GLISI offers leadership development programs, executive coaching, and consulting services focused on uplifting school leaders, transforming mindsets, and cultivating cultures of innovation.
