Fairmont, West Virginia, United States, July 2025 — Michael Sumbs has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer at MVB Financial Corp. (MVBF), bringing with him over 15 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, and financial strategy within the financial services sector.
Prior to joining MVB, Michael served at Raymond James for more than eight years, most recently as Director in the Financial Institutions Group, where he led strategic advisory mandates for banks and financial services firms across the country. During his tenure, he was instrumental in driving M&A transactions, capital raises, and financial advisory for mid-market institutions. Earlier, as Vice President, he played a key role in executing growth strategies and advising on capital optimization initiatives.
Michael’s previous roles include Investment Banking Associate at Macquarie Group, where he focused on advisory and transaction execution, and Associate – Strategy and Corporate Development at Yadkin Bank, where he worked on strategic planning, financial modeling, and M&A integration efforts. He began his career in investment banking at KBW (Keefe, Bruyette & Woods), gaining deep insights into the banking and financial services landscape.
A Fuqua Scholar and MBA graduate from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Michael also holds a degree from the University of Richmond. His deep experience in capital markets, financial management, and strategic growth advisory makes him a valuable addition to MVB’s executive leadership team.
