Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, June 2024 – MJ Gilfillan has joined Anguil Environmental Systems, Inc. as the new Vice President of Human Resources. With a robust background in HR consulting, legal compliance, and strategic planning, MJ is set to lead HR initiatives that align with Anguil’s mission and growth objectives.

Before joining Anguil Environmental Systems, Inc., MJ served as the Director of Human Resources at Alverno College from June 2022 to June 2024. In this role, MJ managed HR strategies to support college goals, oversaw compliance with labor laws, and led a team responsible for recruitment, compensation, benefits, and employee relations. MJ’s contributions included developing policies, administering union contracts, and enhancing workplace safety programs.

Prior to Alverno College, MJ was the Vice President of Human Resources at the Wisconsin Center District from June 2018 to April 2022. MJ maintained and enhanced HR policies, managed recruitment and employee benefits, and led initiatives to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. MJ also spearheaded the implementation of ADP and ABI software, ensuring the organization’s compliance with federal and state regulations.

From February 2017 to June 2018, MJ was the Human Resources Manager at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of N.E.W., where MJ managed recruitment, compensation, and benefits, and developed new performance reviews and onboarding programs. MJ’s efforts in policy development and employment law compliance significantly contributed to the company’s HR functions.

Earlier in MJ’s career, MJ served as the Human Resources and Operations/Process Improvement Manager at Advanced Blending Solutions from January 2015 to February 2017. In this role, MJ developed HR policies, managed recruitment, and implemented compensation and benefits programs. MJ also played a key role in ISO certification and financial planning.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
