Tokyo, Japan, November 2025 — Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma has announced the appointment of Naoki Ohta as its Chief Human Resources Officer, marking a significant leadership addition as the company advances its transformation journey in global healthcare, culture strategy, and talent excellence. In this role, Naoki will lead enterprise-wide human capital strategy, organizational development, and leadership capability building to support the company’s long-term vision of driving meaningful impact in patient care and innovative medicines.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Naoki brings deep global and regional leadership experience in human resources, cultural transformation, workforce strategy, and executive leadership advisory across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and diversified global enterprises. His leadership is grounded in building purpose-driven, people-centric organizations that empower high performance and long-term success.
Prior to joining Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, Naoki served as Regional HR Lead at Organon, where he oversaw HR strategy across Japan and broader regional markets, playing a key role in shaping people programs, developing leadership capability, and supporting strategic business growth in healthcare and women’s health solutions.
Before his leadership at Organon, Naoki spent more than a decade at Merck, where he served as Regional Head of HR, leading end-to-end HR strategy, organizational effectiveness, talent planning, and leadership development across business units. His tenure contributed significantly to building cohesive, resilient, and high-performing teams in a highly competitive and evolving pharmaceutical environment.
Earlier, Naoki held the position of Managing Director and Head of HR at ING Life Insurance Japan, where he led cultural integration, organizational restructuring, and workforce alignment during a period of strategic portfolio transformation within the insurance sector.
Naoki began his HR leadership journey with experiences at GE as HR Manager, where he helped drive performance culture and leadership development initiatives, and at MUFG as Associate Vice President, where he gained foundational expertise in financial services operations, organizational development, and talent engagement at scale.
