Boston, Massachusetts, United States, July 2024 – Katie McConnell has started a new position as the Chief People Officer at New England Aquarium. In her new role, Katie will be responsible for overseeing the human resources strategy, driving organizational effectiveness, and supporting the Aquarium’s mission to promote marine conservation and education.
Katie McConnell has been with New England Aquarium for over seven years. She most recently served as the Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness, where she played a crucial role in enhancing business strategy, annual budgeting, and board relations. Before that, she held the position of Associate Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness and was the Director of Operations at the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, where she focused on conservation issues and business strategy.
Prior to joining the New England Aquarium, Katie worked as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, where she honed her skills in business strategy and annual budgeting. She also has extensive experience from her nine-year tenure at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), where she held various roles including Director of Strategic Operations and Project Manager, International Operations. In these roles, she specialized in change management, strategic planning, and operational analysis.
Earlier in her career, Katie served as a Communications Officer at IFAW and as a Communications Coordinator at American Public Television.
