New York, United States, December 2025 – SMBC Group has announced the appointment of Nicolas D. Lagarde as Vice President, People Analytics, marking a strategic step in strengthening its data-driven people decision-making capabilities. In his new role, Lagarde will partner closely with HR and business leaders to define key workforce KPIs, design advanced analytics dashboards, and translate complex people data into actionable insights that support organizational performance and risk management.
In his current role at SMBC Group, Nicolas D. Lagarde is responsible for leading people analytics initiatives that enable consolidated workforce analysis across multiple HR systems. His work focuses on advanced reporting, statistical analysis, and stakeholder-aligned dashboards that support timely, accurate, and insight-driven decision-making. He also collaborates cross-functionally on system enhancements and process improvements to ensure analytics tools align with evolving business needs.
Prior to joining SMBC Group, Lagarde served as Senior Analyst, People Analytics & Reporting at NBCUniversal, where he played a key role in developing data models, predictive analytics, and visualizations to support HR strategy. His responsibilities included statistical trend analysis, machine learning-based models, Microsoft Viva Insights administration, and close collaboration with HR, IT, and data engineering teams to enhance enterprise-wide analytics capabilities.
Earlier, Lagarde was associated with Millennium Management, where he held roles including HR Data and Reporting Associate and HR Data and Reporting Analyst. During this phase, he acted as a subject matter expert in HR reporting, delivering executive-level dashboards on headcount, compensation, diversity, and talent metrics, while also supporting regulatory and compliance reporting for global stakeholders.
He also brings experience from Goldman Sachs, where he worked within Global Markets – Business Partner Solutions, supporting C-suite reporting, talent reviews, compensation analysis, and large-scale HCM system transformations. His foundational exposure to learning operations and analytics was shaped during earlier roles at KPMG, where he supported firm-wide learning and reporting initiatives.
