Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand – Lyttelton Port Company (LPC) is proud to announce the appointment of Nigel Foster as the new Chief People & Capability Officer. Foster brings over two decades of extensive human resources and capability management experience to his new position at one of New Zealand’s key infrastructure assets, located in Christchurch, Canterbury.
Prior to his new role at LPC, Foster served as the Deputy Chief Executive of People & Capability at the New Zealand Customs Service from February 2022 to April 2024. During his tenure, he was instrumental in transforming HR service delivery across various functions including HR business partnerships, advisory, recruitment, payroll, and shared services, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and employee engagement.
Before joining the New Zealand Customs Service, Foster engaged in HR contracting and consulting for various companies from September 2016 to March 2018 in Auckland, where he developed and implemented strategic HR initiatives tailored to client needs across multiple industries.
Earlier in his career, Foster held the position of General Manager of HR at the Commercial Bank of Dubai from 2008 to 2013, where he led organizational change and development initiatives that aligned with the bank’s strategic growth objectives. His extensive career also includes pivotal roles at AMP in Auckland and at the Rialto Consultancy in London, further establishing his expertise in HR leadership and organizational transformation.
