Nirmala Gunawardane Appointed as Acting Head of Human Resources at Richard Pieris Finance Ltd

Colombo, Sri Lanka, October 2025 — Nirmala Gunawardane has taken on the role of Acting Head of Human Resources at Richard Pieris Finance Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Richard Pieris & Company PLC. In this leadership position, Nirmala will oversee HR operations, drive people strategy, and strengthen organizational capability to support the company’s continued growth and customer-focused transformation within the financial services sector.

Nirmala brings nearly two decades of progressive HR experience across leading organizations in the banking, finance, and technology industries. Prior to joining Richard Pieris Finance Ltd, she served as Assistant Manager – Human Resources at UB Finance PLC, where she contributed to talent management, HR process enhancement, and employee engagement strategies that aligned with business objectives.

Before that, she worked with V S Information Systems (Pvt) Ltd as Senior Executive – Human Resources, leading initiatives in HR operations, policy implementation, and organizational development. Her proactive approach and attention to employee well-being played a key role in strengthening workplace culture and operational efficiency.

Nirmala’s professional journey began with an extensive tenure at Seylan Bank PLC, where she served for over 17 years in various roles including Executive Officer, Human Resources Officer, and Banking Assistant. During her time there, she gained deep expertise in HR administration, employee relations, and performance management within a large-scale banking environment — establishing herself as a trusted HR partner.

Her transition to Richard Pieris Finance Ltd represents a significant milestone in her career, reflecting her consistent dedication to people development and organizational excellence.
