Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, July 2026 — Nyrstar has announced the appointment of Grant Kerswell as Chief People Officer, Nyrstar Australia, strengthening its executive leadership team at a pivotal stage as the company progresses its Australian metals modernisation programme.
Kerswell joins Nyrstar with more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in human resources, organizational transformation, and business performance across publicly listed, private, and multinational organizations spanning mining, agribusiness, telecommunications, defence, utilities, FMCG, and media.
In his new role, he will lead Nyrstar Australia’s people strategy, partnering with business leaders to support workforce transformation, organizational capability, leadership development, culture, and talent initiatives as the company advances its modernization agenda across its Australian operations.
Prior to joining Nyrstar, Kerswell served as Chief People Officer at Inghams Group Limited, where he spent more than six years leading the company’s enterprise-wide people strategy, organizational capability, workforce transformation, leadership development, industrial relations, culture, and talent agenda during a period of significant operational evolution.
Earlier, he spent nearly eight years with Broadspectrum, progressing through senior executive HR leadership roles.
As Group Director Human Resources, he led the organization’s global human resources function, driving enterprise people strategy, organizational transformation, leadership capability, and workforce initiatives across multiple business sectors.
Previously, as Executive General Manager Human Resources, Kerswell held full accountability for enterprise HR strategy, culture, operational efficiency, governance, workforce capability, and global HR transformation. He led HR services across diverse operating businesses, joint ventures, and wholly owned subsidiaries while delivering commercially focused people solutions aligned with business strategy.
Between these executive appointments, he also undertook a strategic consulting assignment with Qantas, advising the airline’s Project 2020 team on HR shared services transformation and future operating models.
Earlier in his career, Kerswell spent more than a decade with Coca-Cola Amatil, where he progressed through several increasingly senior leadership positions.
As HR Director, Australian Beverages, he served on the Australian Executive Team and was responsible for the entire HR function across the beverages division, leading HR strategy, organizational culture, talent management, remuneration, recruitment, learning, occupational health and safety, and operational effectiveness to support sustained business growth.
Previously, he served as General Manager Human Resources – Australian Beverages, Head of Human Resources: Business Partners, National HR Manager – Sales and Customer Service, Organisational Development Manager, Human Resources Manager – Projects, and NSW Sales HR Manager, building deep expertise across organizational development, talent strategy, HR business partnering, leadership capability, HR systems, transformation, and change management.
Earlier, Kerswell spent four years with Campbell Arnott’s, where he held leadership roles including National Learning & Development Manager – Sales & Marketing, National Learning & Development Manager – Operations & Logistics, and Human Resource Development Officer, establishing enterprise learning frameworks, competency-based development programmes, leadership capability initiatives, and workforce development strategies across Australia.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern Queensland and a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Throughout a career spanning more than two and a half decades, Kerswell has built extensive expertise in HR strategy, organizational transformation, culture change, leadership development, talent management, workforce capability, industrial relations, organizational effectiveness, business transformation, change management, and executive leadership.
