Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, July 2025 – Praveen Kumar has taken on a new role as President and Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL). In this elevated position, he will play a critical leadership role in advancing KPIL’s global HR strategy, enhancing organizational capabilities, and fostering a high-performance culture to support the company’s operations across 30+ countries.
Prior to this appointment, Praveen spent over eight years at Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited, where he most recently served as Deputy President and Corporate HR Head. His tenure was marked by HR transformation initiatives, talent pipeline development, and process excellence in a high-growth EPC environment. He was also instrumental in aligning people strategy with the company’s global expansion.
Earlier, he served for nearly a decade at Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., where he held key roles including Vice President HR, Associate Vice President HR, and Sr. GM – HR (Head Steel Business). He led major strategic interventions including talent and leadership development programs such as “LEAD” with McKinsey and “Navtarang,” driving organizational culture change and capability building across business verticals.
Before that, Praveen contributed significantly to Enercon India Ltd. (now WindWorld India) for seven years, where he headed HR for the projects and services vertical across seven states. His key contributions included implementing talent initiatives, managing long-term wage settlements, and setting up the Enercon Training Academy (ETA) for both Indian and German professionals.
He also gained valuable HR experience in earlier roles at Prime Healthcare Services, Global Boards Ltd., and even began his career as an Economics teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, bringing a unique foundation in education and behavioral understanding to his leadership style.
Praveen holds a PGDM in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from LNMI, Patna, and a Master’s degree in Economics from Patna University.
