New Delhi, India, April 2025 – Rahul Kanwal is set to take over as Chief Executive Officer & Editor-in-Chief at NDTV starting June 16, marking a pivotal leadership transition at one of India’s most respected news networks. In this newly combined role, Rahul will oversee the editorial, strategic, and operational direction of NDTV, aiming to drive growth, digital transformation, and journalistic excellence in an increasingly competitive media landscape.
Prior to joining NDTV, Rahul Kanwal served for nearly 11 years at India Today Group, where he rose to the position of Executive Director. In this capacity, he was responsible for leading editorial and operational excellence across India Today and Aaj Tak, two of India’s most prominent media brands.
Earlier at India Today Group, Rahul held key leadership roles including News Director and Managing Editor for India Today and Aaj Tak. His stewardship was instrumental in strengthening viewership, enhancing news programming, and advancing the channels’ digital and broadcast footprints.
Previously, Rahul played an influential role at Headlines Today, where he served as Managing Editor, Executive Editor, and Editor, building the channel’s reputation for cutting-edge journalism and impactful storytelling.
His journalism journey began at Aaj Tak, where he spent over four years progressing through roles from Reporter to Principal Correspondent & Anchor. Prior to Aaj Tak, Rahul worked with Zee News and Zee Business, gaining foundational experience as a Reporter & Anchor.
Rahul is an alumnus of Delhi University with a degree in Journalism, and holds professional certifications from Harvard Business School (General Management Program and CORe Diploma) and Cardiff University (Chevening Scholar in Broadcast Journalism).
