In her new role, Rekha will oversee the group’s HR strategy, culture transformation, and talent development agenda across its diverse portfolio of companies, reinforcing Goscor’s commitment to people excellence and organizational growth.
Bringing over 25 years of human resources and administrative leadership experience, Rekha has built a distinguished career in HR operations, organizational psychology, and culture management. Her appointment underscores Goscor’s focus on aligning human capital with business innovation and ensuring a thriving, engaged workforce across its national operations.
Before joining Goscor Group, Rekha Govender spent over 18 years at Corobrik (Pty) Ltd, one of South Africa’s most respected building materials companies. As Human Resources Manager, she played a pivotal role in leading HR transformation initiatives, streamlining HR operations, and strengthening organizational effectiveness. Her tenure also included roles such as HR & Benefits Manager and HR Administration Manager, where she led compensation programs, payroll systems, and employee engagement frameworks across multiple locations.
Earlier in her journey at Corobrik, Rekha held positions as HR Officer and Secretary/PA to the HR and Operations Directors, where she honed her skills in policy design, workforce relations, and administrative excellence. Her deep understanding of HR functions across both strategic and operational dimensions positioned her as a key people leader within the organization.
Prior to her long tenure at Corobrik, Rekha gained diverse experience across leading organizations, including Unilever, where she served as Secretary to Human Resources, and Edcon, where she worked as both Facilities Administrator and PA to the Chief Executive Officer. She began her HR career at Hendred Freuhauf, serving as HR Administrator, laying the foundation for her expertise in HR systems, employee relations, and organizational processes.
Throughout her career, Rekha has been recognized for her strong people management capabilities, her focus on compliance and governance, and her ability to foster inclusive and performance-driven work environments.
