Palo Alto, California, United States, June 2025 – Richard Cho has joined Luma AI as Head of People, bringing with him over two decades of strategic talent leadership experience across some of the world’s most influential technology companies. In his new role, Richard will lead the people strategy to support Luma AI’s mission of building world models that help machines see, hear, and reason like humans.
Prior to this appointment, Richard most recently served as Head of People at Alchemy, where he also acted as a strategic advisor, guiding the organization’s HR and recruiting strategy during a key growth phase. He also contributed to the tech ecosystem as a Strategic Talent Acquisition Advisor and Board Member for various startups across the Bay Area, offering expertise in scalable hiring systems, process optimization, and workforce metrics.
Earlier, he held the dual roles of Advisor and Chief Recruiting Officer at Gem, where he supported the firm’s mission to enhance strategic recruiting through data-driven tools. He was also Executive Vice President, Talent Acquisition at Charlie Health, playing a vital role in scaling mental healthcare talent functions. His impact on team growth and process architecture was especially prominent during his nearly three-year tenure at Robinhood, where he led global recruiting and scaled the company from under 400 to over 4,000 employees.
Prior to Robinhood, Richard served as Head of Recruiting at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, leading tech hiring and diversity strategies during a period of rapid expansion. He has also held leadership roles at Machine Zone, Dropbox, and Facebook, where he played foundational roles in building high-performing recruiting teams and establishing forward-thinking talent programs. His early career included roles at eBay, Cisco Systems, and Echelon, further cementing his experience in global staffing and HR operations.
