Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, January 2026 — Ruchir Umalkar has started a new position as Vice President & Head of Tech Transfer at the R&D centre of Zydus Group.
In his new role, Ruchir Umalkar will lead technology transfer initiatives at the Zydus R&D centre, strengthening the bridge between research, development, and commercial manufacturing. His mandate includes enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient transfer of processes to support the group’s global development and manufacturing strategy.
Prior to joining Zydus Group, Ruchir Umalkar spent over five years at Sun Pharma, where he most recently served as Senior General Manager, after earlier holding the role of General Manager. At Sun Pharma, he was closely involved in process development, technical services, and supporting complex manufacturing operations at scale.
Before this, he spent more than twelve years at Mylan as Deputy General Manager, where he worked extensively across Process Development and Technical Services, contributing to technology scale-up, process optimization, and robust transfer to manufacturing sites.
Earlier in his career, Ruchir Umalkar began his professional journey as a Research Scientist at Ranbaxy, gaining strong foundational experience in process development that has shaped his long-standing expertise in pharmaceutical R&D and technology transfer.
