Colombo, Sri Lanka, September 2025 — Russel (R.) Clements – MBA has taken on the role of Vice President, People and Culture at Uga Resorts, marking a significant elevation in his journey with the company. He has been associated with Uga Resorts since April 2022, previously serving as General Manager, People and Culture, where he played a pivotal role in shaping talent development, organizational strategy, and HR transformation.
Prior to joining Uga Resorts, Russel worked as a Hospitality Management Consultant at La Maîtrize in Saudi Arabia, where he contributed to qualitative management practices aligned with the country’s Vision 2030 goals. His work involved advising hospitality organizations on strategic people initiatives and leadership development.
Earlier, he was associated with ALFA Company in Saudi Arabia in dual roles – first as Senior Manager – Management Development, where he focused on strategic workforce planning, SOP creation, and executive program facilitation, and then as Management Consultant, where he helped develop leadership training modules and supported operational excellence.
His career includes impactful stints in training and HR development at prestigious hospitality establishments such as Galle Face Hotel, Jetwing Hotels, Taj Hotels, Soneva Group, Hilton Hotels, and Accor. From heading training departments to facilitating ISO and HACCP implementations, Russel’s contributions have consistently driven workforce capability and service excellence. His early years at Hilton saw a remarkable rise from steward to captain, along with accolades such as “Outstanding Employee of the Month” and recognition in culinary events.
