Andover, Massachusetts, United States, May 2025 – Sara Bethke has been appointed as the new Vice President, Human Resources at Smith+Nephew, a global medical technology company. In her new role, she will lead the company’s HR strategy, talent initiatives, and people development across its global operations, continuing to foster a culture of care, collaboration, and courage.
Sara has been with Smith+Nephew for over six years, most recently serving as Senior Director, Human Resources. In this role, she led strategic HR initiatives across business units, driving employee engagement, leadership development, and workforce planning to support global operations.
Prior to her tenure at Smith+Nephew, Sara worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific for over seven years, where she held various leadership roles including HR Leader for the Digital Science Business Unit, Senior Director HR, and Director, HR (North America) – Unity Lab Services. Her work spanned corporate HR strategy and business partnering across R&D and software divisions, influencing organizational effectiveness and team performance.
Earlier in her career, she served as an HR Business Partner at Raytheon Technologies for over four years, supporting multiple engineering and operational teams. Prior to that, she worked at L3 Technologies as HR Manager, where she was responsible for talent programs and workforce solutions for nearly seven years.
Sara began her career in recruiting and sales roles at InSite Search and AT&T, developing a strong foundation in talent acquisition and client relationship management—skills that have continued to support her HR leadership journey.
