London, United Kingdom, August 2024 – Sharon Ives has been appointed as the Chief People Officer at World Gold Council. In her new role, Sharon will be responsible for leading the organization’s HR strategy, driving talent development, and supporting the Council’s mission to shape the future of a responsible and sustainable gold supply chain.
Sharon Ives joined the World Gold Council as the Head of Human Resources in June 2023. Over the past year, she has been instrumental in aligning HR practices with the Council’s strategic objectives, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Before joining the World Gold Council, Sharon served as the Head of HR Operations at Slaughter and May for nearly two years. In this role, she managed HR operations and supported the firm’s strategic HR initiatives across various locations.
Prior to that, Sharon held the role of Interim Head of HR for London/MENA/Manchester at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where she was responsible for overseeing HR functions and providing strategic HR support during a transitional period.
Sharon’s earlier career includes roles such as HR Director at Three Crowns LLP and Head of Business Partnering at Dentons UKMEA LLP, where she focused on HR business partnering, talent management, and HR operations.
In addition to these roles, Sharon has held various senior HR positions at Ashurst LLP, Allen & Overy, and Ernst & Young, where she gained extensive experience in HR management, change management, and talent development.
