Gurugram, Haryana, India – October 2024 – Shashwat Sharma has been appointed as the CEO Designate at Bharti Airtel. He will officially assume the roles of Managing Director and CEO starting from January 1, 2026. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer, Shashwat will manage Airtel’s consumer business end-to-end, working closely with Gopal Vittal, the current MD & CEO, who will transition to Executive Vice Chairman.
Shashwat has been with Bharti Airtel for over 6 years, beginning his journey as Chief Marketing & Brand Officer in October 2018, where he led Airtel’s brand and marketing efforts for nearly 3 years. He then transitioned to Director – Marketing & Communications in July 2021, overseeing the development of customer-led growth strategies, marketing campaigns, and corporate communications for over 1 year.
In August 2022, Shashwat was promoted to Director – Consumer Business, CEO DTH, a role in which he managed the consumer business for the direct-to-home (DTH) segment at Airtel for over 1 year. His most recent position, Chief Operating Officer, started in October 2023, marking his tenure in leading Airtel’s consumer segment and preparing for his transition to CEO.
Prior to Airtel, Shashwat spent over 13 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he led various brand management and marketing roles, including Head Oral Care & Ayush, Head Lakme, and Sr. Brand Manager for Dove & Pears. His journey at HUL also included roles such as Regional Brand Manager and Area Sales & Customer Manager, driving brand expansions, customer engagement, and business growth across various sectors.
