Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 2025 – Vale International S.A. appoints Shermila Tawammany as Head Talent, APAC Europe Middle-East. With an extensive background in global talent management, strategic HR leadership, and business transformation, Shermila will lead the company’s growth and transformation initiatives across multiple regions. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she will be responsible for driving talent development, workforce strategy, and leadership transformation at Vale, aligning the company’s human capital objectives with its global business expansion.
Shermila joins Vale from Gentari, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petronas, where she served as Head Talent, Hydrogen. In this role, she played a key part in developing the talent ecosystem for renewable energy, green hydrogen, and green mobility solutions. Before that, she was Regional HR Manager, AME at Vopak, where she led talent management, organizational development, and workforce planning across Asia and the Middle East, managing 1,500 employees through strategic HR interventions.
Earlier in her career, Shermila spent nearly four years at Oman LNG, a Shell JV company, where she was Manager, HR Talent & Strategy, overseeing HR change management, organizational strategy, and leadership development for 700+ employees. Prior to that, she worked at Shell for nine years, holding multiple leadership roles, including Global Talent Management Advisor and Recruitment Manager, where she led executive talent reviews, leadership assessments, and performance management strategies across 30+ countries. She also gained significant executive search experience at Kelly IT Resources, focusing on high-impact leadership recruitment.
Shermila holds a strong track record in diversity & inclusion, workforce analytics, and leadership transformation, making her an invaluable addition to Vale’s global talent leadership team.
