Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, February 2026 — VIP (Vermont Information Processing), a Warburg Pincus portfolio company and a global pioneer in technology solutions for the Beverages & Alcohol industry, has announced that Shiv Kumar has started a new position as Managing Director – VIP India.
In his new role, Shiv Kumar will lead VIP India, which operates as a Global Capability Center (GCC) for technology, R&D, Data and AI innovations, operations, product management, and services. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as VIP continues strengthening its AI-enabled, data-driven platforms that serve all three tiers of the beverage ecosystem — Suppliers, Distributors, and Retailers.
With a strong focus on technology-enabled transformation and scalable innovation, Shiv Kumar is expected to play a key role in expanding VIP India’s global contribution across analytics, AI product engineering, and enterprise-grade technology services for the beverages and alcohol sector.
Prior to joining VIP (Vermont Information Processing), Shiv Kumar served as Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) at L’Oréal for nearly 3 years, based in Mumbai. In this leadership role, he drove enterprise data and analytics strategy, enabling business value creation through modern data platforms and advanced analytics programs.
Earlier, he worked with Schlumberger (SLB) for over 2 years as Global Capability Center (GCC) – Head of Analytics, AI / D&A Portfolio & Success Management, based in Pune. In this role, he led analytics and AI portfolios, delivering impact through global programs, innovation governance, and strategic execution of data and AI initiatives.
He also built extensive experience at Mahindra & Mahindra over close to 5 years, where he held multiple leadership positions including Head of Analytics – AFS (Business Strategy and Analytics) and Dy. General Manager – Head of Data Sciences (Information Insight Center). As a founding member of Mahindra’s centralized analytics and consulting arm (IIC), he played a key role in establishing and scaling data science capabilities and delivering transformational analytics solutions across automotive, farm, and agriculture sectors. His work involved advanced applications in sales and marketing analytics, supply chain forecasting, risk prediction, reliability/warranty analytics, customer insights, rural marketing models, and CXO-driven decision science initiatives, alongside building high-performing analytics teams and driving adoption of AI-led transformation programs.
In the earlier phase of his career, Shiv Kumar worked with Lumen Technologies (erstwhile CenturyLink) for nearly 2 years as Manager – Predictive Analytics and Consulting, delivering predictive modeling programs for BFSI and telecom clients. Prior to that, he served as Consultant – Analytics Consulting at Absolutdata Analytics (an Infogain company), managing customer and marketing analytics engagements for US-based technology and telecom firms, including predictive modeling, segmentation, NLP-based sentiment analysis, and product usage intelligence programs.
He also worked with EXL for over 3 years as Senior Analyst (INDUCTIS – Decision Sciences), contributing to risk and marketing analytics programs for UK-based financial services clients, and retail analytics engagements for a major Canadian supermarket, focusing on promotional effectiveness, pricing sensitivity, and consumer behavior models. Shiv began his professional journey with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a Programmer Analyst, supporting statistical modeling work for oncology clinical trials in drug discovery environments.
Shiv Kumar has a strong academic foundation combining management and advanced decision sciences. He completed General Management from Harvard Business School. He also holds a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences (AI/ML, Fuzzy Logic, Statistical Algorithms) from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, and an MBA in Strategy & General Management from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
