Delhi, India, July 2025 – Sonal Choithani has been elevated to the role of Group Chief Brand & Communications Officer at Vedanta Group, one of the world’s leading diversified natural resources companies. In this strategic role, she will spearhead group-wide branding, public relations, communications, and reputation management across Vedanta’s global business verticals, including metals, energy, oil & gas, and sustainability-led ventures.
Over the last six years at Vedanta Group, Sonal has led transformative branding and communications initiatives across three of its major entities. Most recently, as Chief Brand & Communications Officer and Head of Market Development at Hindustan Zinc, she played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s market share and brand stature. She launched EcoZen, Asia’s first and the world’s fourth low-carbon green zinc product, while driving innovative communication campaigns to boost stakeholder value.
Prior to this, she served as Chief Brand & Communications Officer at Vedanta Limited – Aluminium Business for over five years. Her leadership led to a 350% improvement in brand perception, integrated ESG narratives into brand storytelling, and spearheaded the launch of Vedanta Metalbazaar, the world’s largest online metals marketplace. Her efforts garnered nine SABRE Awards and positioned Vedanta among the most respected industrial brands.
Before joining Vedanta, Sonal was Associate Director – Communications & CSR at Fidelity International, where she led corporate communications and CSR strategies across India, Ireland, and China. She was instrumental in securing the ‘Dream Company to Work For’ award for Fidelity in Financial Services and helped establish the company’s CSR policy and D&I frameworks.
Earlier in her career, Sonal held key communication leadership roles at United Technologies, ICICI Bank, Usha Shriram (India), and Exposure Multiples Advertising. She built brand equity across global and domestic markets, established PR ecosystems in multiple geographies, and led award-winning ESG campaigns. Her early professional experience also includes a role at Tata Donnelley Ltd. as a Response Executive. She holds an MBA in Marketing from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.
