Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, February 2026 — Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has promoted Sumit Sharma to the position of Assistant General Manager, recognizing his deep expertise in metro systems interface management and large-scale rail project execution. In his expanded role, he will continue to contribute to complex metro infrastructure programs, leveraging his experience across multi-system integration and testing.
At Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, Sumit Sharma most recently served as Senior Manager, where he played a critical role in testing and commissioning for the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II project. He was responsible for preparing testing plans and procedures, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams, and managing system integration activities across rolling stock, signalling, traction, track, and telecom interfaces. His work involved stakeholder coordination, interface tracking, and risk mitigation across complex, multi-contractor environments.
Earlier, Sharma worked as a Troubleshooter Expert at Alstom, where he led troubleshooting efforts for locomotive systems, implemented maintenance procedures, and ensured compliance with safety and quality standards. He managed technical teams and supported engineering feedback loops to improve system performance in active rail operations.
Prior to that, he spent over six years as a Service Engineer at Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Inc. company, delivering technical solutions, warranty management, and commissioning support for AC traction locomotives across India. Earlier in his career, he held engineering roles at Chiripal Industries Limited and Rainbow Papers Ltd, building foundational expertise in power plant engineering, automation systems, and industrial maintenance.
