In his new role, Suryo will lead BRI’s human capital strategy and talent management agenda, focusing on leadership development, succession planning, workforce transformation, organizational effectiveness, talent acquisition, and capability building to support the bank’s long-term growth ambitions and digital transformation journey.

Prior to joining BRI, Suryo served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Prudential Syariah, where he was responsible for leading the organization’s people strategy, talent agenda, leadership development initiatives, and organizational transformation efforts. During his tenure, he played a critical role in aligning human capital priorities with business growth objectives in Indonesia’s evolving Islamic insurance sector.

Before Prudential Syariah, Suryo spent more than four years with Bukalapak, one of Indonesia’s leading technology companies. He most recently served as Chief Talent Officer, leading the end-to-end human resources function across Indonesia and global offices. Earlier, he held the positions of Senior Vice President of Talent and Vice President of Talent and CEO Office, where he played a key role in building talent capabilities, strengthening organizational effectiveness, and supporting the company’s growth as one of Southeast Asia’s leading digital platforms.

Earlier in his career, Suryo worked with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he served as Project Leader and Consultant. During his tenure, he advised organizations on business transformation, organizational strategy, operational excellence, and talent-related initiatives, gaining extensive exposure to complex business challenges across industries.

Following his MBA studies, Suryo also brought valuable startup and hyper-growth experience from GO-JEK, where he served as Head of HR Business Partner and previously as HR Business Partner Manager for GO-JEK Products. He was instrumental in supporting major organizational restructuring initiatives, workforce optimization programs, talent strategies, and HR process transformation during one of the company’s most significant growth phases.

Prior to GO-JEK, Suryo spent more than three years with ConocoPhillips Indonesia, where he held positions including HR System Analyst and Business Apprentice of Human Resources and General Services Department. During this period, he worked extensively on workforce analytics, organizational effectiveness, HR systems, talent planning, employee engagement, and process improvement initiatives, delivering measurable business impact through technology-driven HR solutions.

Earlier, he also gained consulting and academic experience as an Associate Consultant with PT LETMI ITB and as a Laboratory Assistant at Institut Teknologi Bandung, contributing to organizational design projects, research, and teaching activities.

Suryo holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD, one of the world’s leading business schools, with academic exposure across France, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for integrating strategic human capital management with business transformation, helping organizations build high-performing cultures, strengthen leadership pipelines, and accelerate growth through people.

At BRI, he is expected to play a critical role in advancing the bank’s human capital strategy, developing future-ready talent, and strengthening organizational capabilities to support the institution’s continued leadership in Indonesia’s banking sector.
