Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, has announced the elevation of Darshana Chheda to the role of Group Head – HR Tech, Systems & Policies. The promotion reflects her significant contributions across human resources business partnering, shared services, HR operations, and people processes during her nearly sixteen-year journey with the organization.
In her expanded role, Darshana will lead Tata Power’s HR technology landscape, HR systems transformation, policy governance, and digital people initiatives. She will play a key role in driving HR modernization through platforms such as SAP SuccessFactors while ensuring alignment of people processes, systems, and policies across the organization.
Prior to this elevation, Darshana served as Group Head – T&D HR Shared Services, where she led shared services operations supporting the Transmission and Distribution business. In this capacity, she was responsible for strengthening HR service delivery, process efficiency, employee support, and operational excellence across the business.
Before that, she spent more than five years as a Human Resources Business Partner, partnering closely with business leaders to align people strategies with organizational goals. During this period, she gained deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement, workforce planning, performance management, and organizational effectiveness while supporting business growth initiatives.
Earlier, Darshana served as Lead Associate – Shared Services, a role she held for nearly a decade. She played a significant role in strengthening HR operations, performance appraisal processes, employee services, and process standardization. Her extensive experience in HR operations and service delivery laid the foundation for her later leadership responsibilities in business partnering and shared services transformation.
Before joining Tata Power’s permanent workforce, Darshana began her professional journey as an HR Trainee at Tata Power Company, where she worked on campus recruitment initiatives and talent acquisition programs. This early exposure to HR processes and talent management marked the beginning of a long and successful career with the Tata Group.
Prior to rejoining Tata Power, she also worked as an HR Consultant with PHI Consulting Services, where she was involved in setting up and streamlining the HR function for a reputed educational institution, gaining valuable experience in HR process design and organizational development.
Darshana holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Industrial Psychology from Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University (SNDT Women’s University). Throughout her career, she has developed strong expertise in HR technology, HR operations, shared services, policy development, employee experience, performance management, and organizational processes.
Her progression from HR trainee to a group-level HR leadership position reflects both her deep institutional knowledge and her ability to adapt to the evolving needs of a modern, technology-enabled workforce. In her new role, she is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Tata Power’s HR digitalization agenda and strengthening people systems to support the company’s continued growth and transformation.
