Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2025 – Syed Gaous has stepped into a new leadership role as Deputy Vice President – Human Resources at HDFC ERGO General Insurance. In his new capacity, he will serve as the National Lead Business HR Partner for the Bancassurance vertical, and also spearhead People Analytics, delivering strategic HR interventions aligned with business goals.
Prior to this elevation, Syed Gaous was serving as Assistant Vice President – Human Resources at HDFC ERGO, where he held dual responsibilities: leading the HR function for the Bancassurance vertical and managing People Analytics for the entire organization. During this time, he introduced data-driven HR strategies that significantly reduced role misfits, early attrition, and overall voluntary exits.
Before joining HDFC ERGO, he worked at Axis Bank as Assistant Vice President – Human Resources, where he served as HR Head for West 1 Hub (Mumbai and ROMG). He oversaw end-to-end HR responsibilities, managing a team of six HR professionals while driving strategic workforce initiatives and leadership development.
Earlier in his career, Syed spent over five years at Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, where he rose through various HR leadership roles. As Senior Chief Manager – Corporate HRBP, he partnered with multiple sales and distribution channels and led headcount planning, organizational development, and policy formulation. He also held zonal HR responsibilities across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka.
His foundational years were shaped through impactful roles at Sammaan Capital, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Fenny’s India Pvt. Ltd., MPS Group of Companies, and as a Management Trainee at ACC Limited. Across these organizations, he gained expertise in HR policy formulation, administration, and regional HR leadership in both southern and eastern regions of India.
