Hamburg, Germany, May 2026 – RWE has announced that Tobias Keitel will become Chief Executive Officer of its Offshore Wind business effective October 2026. He will succeed Sven Utermöhlen, who decided not to renew his contract and will leave the company at his own request.
Sharing the announcement, Tobias Keitel expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and acknowledged Sven Utermöhlen’s leadership in building a strong foundation for the business. He emphasized RWE Offshore Wind’s ambition to remain the industry’s leading offshore wind player by driving excellence across development, construction, operations, and commercialization.
Before being named incoming CEO of RWE Offshore Wind, Tobias Keitel has been serving as Executive Board Member (CTO) at RWE Offshore Wind GmbH since September 2025, where he has been closely involved in shaping the company’s offshore wind growth and operational strategy. In his upcoming role, he will lead the offshore wind business alongside the management team focused on profitable growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.
Prior to joining RWE, Tobias served as President & CEO of Voith Hydro for nearly three years. During his tenure, he led one of the global leaders in hydropower technology and solutions, driving strategic growth and strengthening operational capabilities across international markets.
Earlier, he held the role of Chief Operations Officer at Voith Hydro, where he was a member of the Board responsible for sales & marketing, project execution, and service business operations. Over six years, he played a significant role in scaling the organization’s global hydro and renewable energy operations.
Tobias also held several senior leadership roles within Voith Hydro, including Head of BU Large Hydro, Managing Director of Voith Ocean Energies, and Project Director Large Hydro, where he developed deep expertise across renewable energy infrastructure, project delivery, and emerging energy technologies.
Earlier in his career, Tobias served as Head of Corporate Strategy & Development at Ferrostaal GmbH, leading strategic planning and transformation initiatives with a strong focus on renewable energy and energy transition projects, including biofuels and solar thermal investments. He also worked as a strategy consultant with Boston Consulting Group, advising clients across the energy, banking, and consumer sectors.
Tobias holds an MBA in Finance from ESCP Business School.
