Hawaii, United States, March 2025 – Tai Vuniwai has joined Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) as Regional Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), where he will lead HR strategy, workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development across multiple healthcare facilities in the region. His leadership will be instrumental in enhancing employee engagement, optimizing HR processes, and fostering a high-performance culture within the healthcare network.
Vuniwai brings over two decades of HR leadership experience spanning healthcare, tourism, benefits administration, and operational management. Prior to joining HHSC, he served as CHRO at Kahuku Medical Center, where he played a key role in streamlining HR operations, improving workforce engagement, and driving talent acquisition initiatives. He also held the role of Vice President of Human Resources at Polynesian Cultural Center, leading strategic HR transformation, business partnerships, and HRIS implementation.
Earlier in his career, Vuniwai was Hawaii Operations Manager at Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators (DMBA), where he managed benefits administration, compliance, and workforce strategy for multiple entities. His experience also includes roles at Hawaii Pacific Health and Superior Wells/Frac Tech, where he specialized in talent development, compliance training, and operational excellence.
He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and has been actively involved in HR strategy development, leadership coaching, and workforce transformation throughout his career. His appointment at HHSC reflects the organization’s commitment to advancing HR excellence in healthcare and strengthening employee-centric policies.
