Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, December 2025 — A.P. Moller – Maersk has announced the appointment of Thomas Theeuwes as the new Managing Director for India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, effective January 1, 2026. He succeeds Christopher Cook, who will take over as Managing Director for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In his new role, Thomas Theeuwes will be responsible for driving Maersk’s integrated logistics strategy in one of the most dynamic and high-growth regions in the global supply chain. His mandate includes strengthening Maersk’s market presence, deepening customer engagement, and accelerating end-to-end logistics transformation in the India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh cluster.
Thomas Theeuwes most recently served as Managing Director of the West Africa Area at Maersk, a role in which he successfully built a high-performing leadership team that delivered sustained business growth while aligning operations with regional economic development.
His Maersk journey began in 2007 in Belgium, and over nearly two decades, he has held multiple senior leadership and commercial roles across Europe, China, and Africa. His consistent track record of leading diverse teams and achieving operational excellence positions him well to lead one of Maersk’s most critical growth markets in South Asia.
According to Richard Morgan, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa at Maersk, “Thomas is a seasoned leader, and his experience from various parts of the world will aid our growth in this region. We welcome him with great excitement.” Morgan also expressed appreciation for Christopher Cook, who has played a pivotal role in Maersk’s strong positioning in the India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka cluster.
