Fairfax, Virginia, United States, September 2025 — Trident Solutions (“Trident”), a rapidly scaling, multi-domain defense electronics platform backed by ATL Partners, has announced the appointment of Jim Haney as Chief Financial Officer.
Haney brings more than 15 years of financial leadership experience in the defense and aerospace sector. Most recently, he served as CFO of Teledyne Qioptiq Group, part of Teledyne Technologies, following its acquisition from Excelitas Technologies in January. Prior to that, he was Vice President and CFO of Defense and Aerospace at Excelitas. In these roles, he led global finance operations spanning ten facilities across five countries with nearly $300M in annual revenue, guiding organizations through complex growth strategies including acquisitions, divestitures, and capital investments.
His appointment comes as Trident advances its new brand identity and streamlined organizational structure, introduced earlier this month. Following the successful sale of Geost to Rocket Lab, Trident united its remaining companies — Trident Systems and Ophir Corporation — under a single brand, creating a focused defense electronics platform organized into three operating divisions: Trident SES (Space Electronics Systems), Trident ICS (Integrated C4ISR Systems), and Trident OPS (Optical Precision Systems).
“Jim’s proven track record in financial strategy and his deep expertise in defense electronics make him a strong addition to our leadership team,” said Lorin Hattrup, Chief Executive Officer of Trident. “As we expand our platform and pursue both organic and strategic growth opportunities, his leadership will be critical in aligning financial operations with our vision of delivering high-performance, purpose-built electronics across multiple defense domains.”
Throughout his career, Haney has successfully guided M&A integrations, strengthened compliance in highly regulated environments, and implemented forward-looking financial systems that improve agility and profitability. He holds an MBA in Management, Innovation and Change and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Finance from Wright State University.
