Udani Bandaranayake Appointed as Head of Human Resources at Abans Group Sri Lanka

Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka, September 2025 – Udani Bandaranayake has taken on the role of Head of Human Resources for AES & ABS Clusters at Abans Group Sri Lanka, marking a significant career milestone. In this new position, she will lead the HR function across the Group’s diverse operations, focusing on people strategy, employee engagement, organizational transformation, and talent management for a workforce of over 13,000 employees.

Before joining Abans Group Sri Lanka, Udani Bandaranayake served as Head of Human Resources at PEE BEE Management Services (Pvt) Limited, the company behind the renowned Flora Tissues brand. During her one-year tenure, she led key HR initiatives including policy reform, talent acquisition, and strategic workforce planning to support the company’s expanding operations.

Prior to that, she worked as Senior Manager – Human Resources at Lake House – The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd, one of the most respected media institutions in Sri Lanka. Her role focused on optimizing HR operations, revamping performance management systems, and elevating employee development practices.

Her longest tenure was at Express Newspapers (Cey) Ltd., where she served for nearly six years as Human Resources Manager (Senior). There, she oversaw all aspects of the HR lifecycle and introduced several progressive employee engagement initiatives. She played a pivotal role in strengthening HR processes and aligning the workforce with the company’s editorial and business goals.

Earlier in her career, Udani held impactful HR and administrative roles at Vence Systems Pvt Ltd, Velumtec Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, and started her journey with internships at Bandaranaike International Airport and Eskimo Fashion Knitwear. These experiences helped her build a solid foundation in HR operations, employee relations, and organizational compliance.
