Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India, November 2025 — Tata Steel has announced the elevation of Utkarsh Bhardwaj to Head HRM ER & TM (Manufacturing), marking a significant milestone in his remarkable career journey with the organization. With over eleven years at Tata Steel, Utkarsh has been instrumental in advancing progressive people practices, strengthening industrial relations, and driving employee engagement across the company’s manufacturing ecosystem.
In his previous role as Head HRM IR & Rewards (NOPR), Utkarsh led strategic initiatives that harmonized reward frameworks, enhanced IR stability, and fostered employee-centric policies across diverse operational setups. His efforts contributed significantly to building a unified culture of trust, productivity, and collaboration within Tata Steel’s workforce. Earlier, as Senior Manager – IR Establishment, he effectively navigated complex workforce dynamics, demonstrating exceptional composure, clarity, and deep operational understanding—qualities that have defined his leadership approach throughout his tenure.
Before joining Tata Steel, Utkarsh began his professional journey as a Senior Engineer at Indiabulls Power Ltd, where he gained hands-on experience managing large-scale industrial operations and engineering systems. His early internship with Wipro further strengthened his analytical and process-driven approach, focusing on HR metrics, performance evaluation, and systems thinking.
An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, where he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, Utkarsh combines technical acumen with human capital expertise. His analytical depth, inclusive leadership, and strategic foresight continue to drive impactful change within Tata Steel’s HR ecosystem. In his new role, he will lead initiatives that advance Employee Relations (ER) and Talent Management (TM) excellence across the manufacturing divisions, aligning people strategy with Tata Steel’s long-term vision of sustainable growth and workforce transformation.
