Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2025 – Veena Joji has been appointed as Chief People Officer, South Asia at WPP Media. Based in Mumbai, she joins the Executive Committee and will be responsible for shaping the region’s talent strategies, fostering innovation, and strengthening organizational culture across one of the world’s most dynamic media markets. With over 25 years of global leadership experience, Veena is recognized for her ability to build inclusive, high-performing cultures.
Veena most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Apexon, where she spent over four years driving HR transformation and people strategies. She was responsible for aligning HR with business growth, managing talent development, and steering cultural change initiatives to strengthen organizational resilience and competitiveness.
Prior to this, she held a leadership role at CPA Global as SVP – People & Organization, heading the India people function and playing a transformational role in building a high-performance culture for more than 1,250 employees. In this capacity, she collaborated with global leadership teams to deliver integrated talent strategies and advance diversity and inclusion agendas.
Earlier, Veena was associated with Epsilon, where she served as Director HR and later as Senior Director HR. In these roles, she supported over 2,400 employees, driving large-scale organizational change initiatives, including M&A transitions, succession planning frameworks, leadership coaching programs, and workforce planning strategies that positioned Epsilon as an employer of choice.
Her career also includes an impactful stint at Thomson Reuters, where she worked as Senior Manager, Talent Development, overseeing HR and talent initiatives for over 10,000 employees. She also led the Diversity & Inclusion function in India, introduced innovative employee development programs, and established enterprise-wide learning strategies.
Veena began her HR journey at IBM, where she worked for over nine years in multiple leadership positions, including HR Manager, Program Manager for HR Learning (India/SA), and Consultant for Professional & Technical Leadership Programs. She played a pivotal role in designing HR transformation initiatives, talent acquisition, performance management, and global L&D strategies, supporting teams across India, China, the Philippines, Latin America, Europe, and MEA. Her earlier career experiences include roles at Dell Technologies, where she worked as a Quality Analyst, and other managerial positions in HR and training that laid the foundation for her leadership career.
Veena holds a Senior Executive Development Programme in Building Future CHROs from XLRI Jamshedpur and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication from Bharathiar University. Her strong educational foundation, combined with her diverse industry experience, has shaped her expertise in HR strategy, leadership development, and organizational transformation.
