Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, November 2025 – Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has announced the appointment of Vijay Vishwakarma as Head of Human Resources – Domestic West Region (Solar EPC & Solar O&M). In his new role, Vijay will lead HR operations and people strategy for the company’s Solar Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Solar Operations & Maintenance (O&M) business verticals in the western region, overseeing workforce development, engagement, and capability enhancement across large-scale renewable projects.
Vijay brings over 18 years of extensive HR leadership experience across the infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Before his current appointment, he served as General Manager – Human Resources (T&D, Civil, Poles & Lighting, Shared Services) at Transrail Lighting Limited, where he led HR for multiple business divisions and corporate functions. He played a pivotal role in organizational design, HR digitization, policy development, performance management, and special projects on diversity, campus hiring, and Armed Forces hiring. His strategic interventions included creating a technical training center and steering large-scale change management initiatives aligned with business objectives.
Prior to this, Vijay worked with Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy as Deputy General Manager – Human Resources and earlier as Senior Manager – HR Business Partner for International Business (Solar EPC & O&M). During his tenure, he provided strategic HR leadership for international operations across the Middle East, the US, and LATAM regions. He was instrumental in establishing international HR operations, managing global payroll and compensation, driving HRMS implementations, and formulating policies in line with ILO and IFC standards. His contributions strengthened the company’s global people practices and cross-border compliance framework.
Before joining Sterling and Wilson, Vijay served with KEC International Ltd. as Manager – HR for International SBU (Regional Head for Mumbai, Africa, East Asia Pacific & CIS Region). He was responsible for manpower planning, HR budgeting, and global mobility across 20+ countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. He led performance management, capability building, employee engagement, and SAP SuccessFactors implementation, contributing to a robust performance-driven culture across geographies.
Earlier in his career, he worked with Welspun Group as Assistant Manager – Organization Capability & Innovation (OD), focusing on HR transformation, employee engagement, and organization development. He also gained foundational HR experience with Sterling Infosystems, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, and V-Trans (India) Ltd, where he contributed to HR operations, learning and development, performance management, and employee engagement. His diverse experience across sectors underscores his ability to integrate HR strategy with business outcomes.
