PUNE, Maharashtra, India, September 2025 — Vikas Gupta, CFA has assumed additional responsibilities as Global Head of Employee Compliance at Barclays, in addition to his current position as Managing Director – Head of India Compliance.
In his current tenure at Barclays, he has been accountable for overseeing Financial Crime and Compliance operations across all business areas and functions in India. His contributions include setting up a high-value compliance hub supporting global operations in employee compliance, market surveillance, compliance assurance, financial crime investigations, and regulatory compliance. Now, in his expanded global role, he leads a team across the UK, US, and APAC, taking charge of employee compliance, registrations and authorisations, and thematic regulatory oversight.
Before joining Barclays, he was associated with Coforge, where he scaled Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) consulting capabilities, led delivery teams, and provided advisory services across financial risk management, operational risk, technology risk, and regulatory risk remediation. Simultaneously, he also served as a strategic advisor at Riskpro India, where he helped shape strategic planning and capability development.
Earlier, at Wells Fargo, he was responsible for risk oversight of front-line activities and enterprise functions across India and the Philippines, playing a critical role in building a strong risk culture and ensuring regulatory conformance across key risk categories.
Prior to that, his long tenure at Credit Suisse saw him in multiple leadership roles where he managed compliance for over 14,000 employees in India, drove the global workforce strategy, and was instrumental in transitioning key compliance functions to India. He also co-led India’s Risk organisation and spearheaded impactful Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
His earlier stints include leadership roles at Royal Bank of Scotland, where he helped establish the India Risk Hub and delivered several global risk processes, and Wellington Management, where he managed portfolio management systems for equity and derivatives. At Bank of America, he handled credit risk and capital markets risk technology, while his early career included impactful roles at Fundtech Corp., HCL Perot Systems, and Birla Infotech India, contributing to major technology implementations for global financial institutions.
