New Delhi, India, January 2025 – Yashpal Chopra has been appointed as the Group Chief Operating Officer at SMC Group, bringing over two decades of experience in broking operations, risk management, and compliance. In this role, he will be instrumental in driving operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance across the firm’s diverse financial services.
Before joining SMC Group, Yashpal served as the Head of Risk & Operations at 5paisa, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing risk management frameworks, strengthening compliance measures, and optimizing operational processes. His leadership contributed to streamlining trading risk management and ensuring seamless regulatory adherence.

Prior to that, he spent 19 years at Indiabulls Ventures Limited, where he rose to the position of Deputy General Manager – Risk Management & Surveillance. During his tenure, he oversaw risk mitigation strategies for high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and NBFC clients, implemented trading risk surveillance systems, and led compliance initiatives in alignment with SEBI and exchange guidelines. His expertise spans arbitrage and algorithmic trading risk management, business analysis, and portfolio management.
