Tokyo, Japan, October 2025 — Global ophthalmology leader Santen has announced the appointment of Yoko Saiki as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). With over 15 years of experience in strategic leadership roles across corporate strategy, business management, and science-led innovation, Saiki’s appointment marks a significant step in advancing Santen’s people strategy and organizational transformation.
Saiki has been part of Santen for nearly six years, where she has held several key leadership roles that span both strategic and operational domains. Most recently, she served as Corporate Officer and Global Head of Corporate Strategy, driving strategic alignment across global business units and shaping Santen’s long-term vision. Prior to this, she was General Manager and later General Manager, Vision Strategy Promotion at Santen Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., where she played a central role in defining and executing growth strategies that strengthened the company’s global positioning.
Before joining Santen, Saiki had an extensive career with Astellas Pharma, where she worked for over a decade in Japan and the United States. She began as Manager, Corporate Planning, progressing through roles such as Senior Manager, Corporate Finance and Control, and Executive Director, Strategic Business Management for Japan Sales & Marketing. Her tenure at Astellas US LLC included serving as Vice President, Corporate Development, based in the Greater Chicago Area, where she was instrumental in global business planning and strategic portfolio initiatives.
Saiki’s earlier experiences at Astellas Pharma also included leadership in Research Portfolio Planning and Future Science Design, blending science-driven insights with commercial strategy — a hallmark of her multidisciplinary expertise that bridges innovation, people, and business transformation.
Her elevation to Chief Human Resources Officer reflects Santen’s recognition of her ability to integrate business vision with human capital strategy, ensuring that the organization continues to thrive as a purpose-driven, globally connected enterprise.
